Unit 6- Final Project Presentation

      For the final project, I did the project on The Tea Party and The Patriot Party. In this project my partner Fiona and I  compared the two parties and showed the platforms for each of the parties. After looking at the comparison and doing research on the two parties, I saw that the two parties are quite similar in many ways. The two parties kinda stand for many of the same things. I feel that the Tea Party looked over The Patriot Party's platforms and took some inspiration form those platforms and made them their own and also took some of the platforms and put used them again as they were used before.

Texas lawmakers to consider unprecedented anti-gay marriage bill

      
     The Republican-dominate, Texas House of Representatives, are scheduled to look over and consider HB 4105, which is known as the Preservation of Sovereignty and Marriage Act. If this act is passes, the legislation will prohibit state or local government employees form recognizing, granting, or enforce same-sex marriages. It will prohibit "an activity that includes the licensing or support of a same-sec marriage". This is bill is one of 20 measures that have been introduced this season in Texas that LGBT rights. There has been many attempts to enforce discrimination against gay and transgender people into the state law. 
     This is no the first time This is not the first time lawmakers in the US have done this, many have and especially in the South. Lawmakers in the South have "armed themselves" on the advancements of the equality for LGBT. Many LGBT advocates are hoping big businesses to come out and support and put pressure on the lawmakers to drop the bill all together. Similar things are happening in other states and the LGBT community are hoping to stop it and move together and rise above it all. 
     I think this is disgusting a to be completely honest. People should just let people do, be whatever they want to do/be. This is none of their business, and  there should not even be bill against LGBT people. They should all be treated equal because in reality, we are all the same underneath and we are all humans. I just hope these bill get rejected and the LGBT community rises and show the lawmakers they can not be stopped.

The President


     On Tuesday, March 24, 2015, President Obama changed course on its Afghanistan withdrawal plan, stating that it will keep over 9,00 U.S. troops stationed there through 2015. Obama has pledged to reduce the number of the remaining troops that are still in Afghanistan and is planning to remove nearly all of the troops there by the time his presidency is over. On the same day, he had a meeting with Afghan President, Ashraf Ghani. Due to the Afghan government being in its fight against Taliban insurgents since the installation of the coalition government this past fall. Obama's goal to tame down the number of troops in Afghanistan by the end of 2016 has not changed and neither has "our transition out of a combat role". Also, President Obama pledged that the U.S. will support Afghanistan long after the American troops have left Afghanistan.
     As Commander and Chief, the president must be in communication with thee people about the army and also be in charge of the army. This event that happened is a key part on how he must be as commander and chief  of the United States.
  I feel that this is a good move for the President. Have some troops stay back and aid to Afghanistan's troops and help out with what ever they need is a good way to keep an alliance strong and going for a long time. I also see the bad part of this, Many troops were told they would be leaving and returning to their home soon and now they will have to wait even longer than they did before to see their loved ones. I hope that President Obama's goal of reducing the number of troops by the end of his presidency in 2016 goes well and there will be no more set backs in the following months.

   Political Campaigning 

      Once the presidential candidates are announced, it begins, the campaigning. Campaigning has been around since the first presidential elections happened way back when. The candidates want to get the prestigious spot to run the nation, and with that there has to be a lot of campaigning that needs to happen. There are many forms of c campaigning that the candidates do, such as making public appearances in many different places, taking it to social media, taking it to magazines and news papers, but one in particular is the most important, that is commercials.
     Back when the first presidential elections where going on, there was no electricity so there was no tv's, phones, or social media so they took to the news papers because most of the people read them and they could get their point across in a fast way and in a way people can look at it daily. Also, candidates would get help form their friends who were very powerful and they would talk to people or large groups about the person they were in favor for and they would also make songs about the candidates and people would hear the songs. Fast forward to modern day when they had tv and then internet was happening which introduced social media, and with that presidential candidates started to make commercials to bee showed on tv, because the nation was growing and it was getting harder to spread the candidates point across because more and more people were in the nation.
    When commercials cam about, not a lot of money was spent on them but as time went on and new things were coming about, the spending of money for the commercials were increasing rapidly. The candidates wanted to out do each other in every way possible when it came to the making of these commercials. The candidates would try to find things that would make the other candidate look bad in a way and getting a bust on their chances of winning presidency. A lot of these commercials would be set up if it were like a movie and they would be bigger and bigger each time. These commercials would be seen by most of the population in the nation so why not make the commercials big and raise your chances of winning. Those commercials can have a big impact on the people and that's what the candidates wanted.

      Marriage equality has been in the news for quite some time and it has brought much attention to people, states, and the government. Many people don't support it but a majority of people do support it and more and more people who didn't supported marriage equality are learning more about it and supporting it. I believe that letting people marry whoever they want is okay. People should stop worrying about who people marry and why they want to marry a person of the same sex.
      Like the second article in the pro section, "Use What You Got: Bill Of Rights Provides for Marriage Equality", they talk about how the 9th amendment states that "...shall not be constructed to deny or disparage others retained by the people", meaning that there is more rights that we have think we have. The previous "rights" that we thought we had, prior to the 9th states that deals with the enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. This means that the amendment being passed, are not the only rights that we have as people of the United States. Also this article states how the 4th Amendment does not allow the state to come into your home without reasonable cause, and how does this not imply that the government should keep out of your sexual business as well. I feel that this is a reasonable idea and the government should not know everything that goes on in peoples' personal life. The government should just let people marry whoever they want and not have to be questioned about it.
      Many states that were relentless about same-sex marriage, are now changing their mind and allowing it to start happening. Now over 30 states have made it legal for a person to marry the same sex and that is an amazing start. The governments of the states are realizing many things and are now becoming "modern" states, which means they are acknowledging things that are new to this century and would be a very bad thing back in the day. I am very proud that the government is realizing that marriage between two people, it doesn't matter what the sexes are, is okay and it will not destroy a nation. Soon all of the states will realize this and will allow it sooner or later, and that will be an amazing day in history.
