The President
On Tuesday, March 24, 2015, President Obama changed course on its Afghanistan withdrawal plan, stating that it will keep over 9,00 U.S. troops stationed there through 2015. Obama has pledged to reduce the number of the remaining troops that are still in Afghanistan and is planning to remove nearly all of the troops there by the time his presidency is over. On the same day, he had a meeting with Afghan President, Ashraf Ghani. Due to the Afghan government being in its fight against Taliban insurgents since the installation of the coalition government this past fall. Obama's goal to tame down the number of troops in Afghanistan by the end of 2016 has not changed and neither has "our transition out of a combat role". Also, President Obama pledged that the U.S. will support Afghanistan long after the American troops have left Afghanistan.
As Commander and Chief, the president must be in communication with thee people about the army and also be in charge of the army. This event that happened is a key part on how he must be as commander and chief of the United States.
I feel that this is a good move for the President. Have some troops stay back and aid to Afghanistan's troops and help out with what ever they need is a good way to keep an alliance strong and going for a long time. I also see the bad part of this, Many troops were told they would be leaving and returning to their home soon and now they will have to wait even longer than they did before to see their loved ones. I hope that President Obama's goal of reducing the number of troops by the end of his presidency in 2016 goes well and there will be no more set backs in the following months.
